Justice, A Myth
Preethi Rao
Your honour, we present to you,
The case of the forbidden few,
The ones who do not matter,
Soft voices that ring true.
We worship womanhood in the country,
Idolism runs in our blood,
She is placed in a pedestal unreachable,
She would remain invisible instead.
Lend her a kind ear,
Nay maybe just a passing smile,
She isn’t asking for much,
Just what she was promised all this while.
Your honour, she is seeking equal rights,
To work, to decide, to live her life,
She has shown that she can fulfil her duties,
As a mother, as a daughter, as a wife.
Let her soar to heights she can reach,
Let her bring pride and glory,
Let justice prevail on her side,
Let us all for once hear her story.
